Ms Beth Shegog

Beth Shegog (she/her – Wurundjeri land) was the RUSU President for 2023.

She is currently studying a Bachelor of International Studies, with a keen interest in social policies and community development. Beth has worked with numerous not-for-profit organisations that advocate and deliver outcomes for young people and students. In her role as RUSU President for 2023, she worked to support student welfare, safety and equity, advocating for change to increase accessibility and the expansion of student support services. Belonging has also been one of Beth’s areas of focus and in the presidential role she oversaw the delivery of a suite of events, welfare programs and campaigns, that built a sense of student community. Beth is a strong supporter of embedding student voice at every level of the university and as such has volunteered for a range of student leadership opportunities, finding herself as an executive of academic clubs, RMIT student ambassador and SSCC representative.

In her roles as Women’s Officer and President, Beth has represented and advocated for RMIT students at various levels of the University. Sitting on different committees, including Academic Board and its sub-committees, and working groups, she has fought for student interests and better conditions for all students. Beth is excited by the opportunity to represent students on University Council.
