About

Dr. Tarun Panwar is Associate Dean of Fashion Enterprise & Technology in the School of Fashion & Textiles. He is passionate about advancing fashion enterprises and fostering sustainability research in the global fashion industry. He is an award-winning academic leader, in 2023, honored to receive an Australia Award for University Teaching (AAUT), a National Teaching Award and in 2022, RMIT University Teaching Award for outstanding contribution to student learning-Industry Partnered Learning. He leads the discipline having the higher education academic programs; Bachelor of Fashion (Enterprise), Bachelor of Fashion & Textiles (Sustainable Innovation) and Masters of Fashion (Entrepreneurship). He has over 25 years of globally recognized academic thought leadership, innovations in pedagogy, and fostering sustainability in Fashion and Textiles. He has designed and delivered several successful fashion enterprise programs including recently new nationally recognized award winning Bachelor of Fashion (Enterprise) program. He is globally credited with innovation in pedagogy and discipline thought leadership. He has long term sustained dissemination of learning deign, pedagogy and discipline research frequently at International level in many global fashion conferences, notably 12 invitations to prestigious annual conferences of IFFTI (International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes, 55 Institutes from 23 countries).Dr. Panwar's is internationally recognized for his research in sustainability of fashion value chains within the Fashion & Textiles sector. His research focusses on fostering sustainability and circularity in innovative fashion business models, supply chains, consumer behaviour, and curriculum.

Teaching interests

Dr. Panwar is passionate about teaching Fashion supply chain management, Sustainability, Fashion marketing and brand management courses across fashion enterprise programs,He is recognised for learning design, industry-partnered learning evidenced by national and University awards. In 2023 I received the Australia Award for University Teaching (AAUT) National Teaching Award. I am passionate about Industry Partnered Learning (IPL) and Career Development Learning (CDL) in learning design and development.

His research interests are: Fashion Sustainability, Circular Economy, Circular Business Models Sustainable & Circular Supply Chains, Recycling & Fashion Consumer Behaviour.
His global education & research outcome disseminations include: Global Act: Simulation Game for Experiential Learning of Global Fashion Value Chain (Toronto, 2007); Online Simulation Game (Melbourne, 2008); Measuring Compulsive Fashion Shopping behavior (London, 2009); Simulation Game for Enhancing Global Cross Cultural Education (New Delhi 2012); Sustainable Fashion Business Model Design(Beijing, 2016); Contemporary Approaches to New Program Design in Fashion (New Zealand 2023); and Emerging Sustainable Fashion Business Models (Seoul, 2024).
