Dr Biplob Pramanik is a Senior Lecturer in the Civil & Infrastructure Engineering Discipline and Director of the Water: Effective Technologies and Tools (WETT) Research Centre at RMIT University, Australia. He is also an ARC DECRA Fellow and President of the International Society for Fatberg Management . Prior to joining RMIT, he was a Lecturer at La Trobe University, Australia, and a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong (Jan 2017–Jan 2019). He earned his PhD from RMIT University in 2016.
His research focuses on developing separation-based technological platforms for removing emerging pollutants from water and wastewater. His current work also addresses fatberg management and resource recovery. Dr Pramanik has secured over $5.5 million in research funding, including ARC DECRA and ARC Linkage Projects as lead Chief Investigator, and has delivered more than 20 keynote and invited talks. To date, he has supervised 18 PhD students to successful completion and published over 250 articles, including more than 160 in highly ranked international peer-reviewed journals, which have collectively attracted over 8,500 citations and an H-index of 52.
