Dr. Payam Pirzadeh is a researcher and lecturer in the field of construction health and safety at RMIT University. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and he is a member of the Institute of Engineers Australia. Prior to his academic role, Payam worked on major infrastructure projects involving the design and construction of large processioning facilities in the energy and mining sectors. He also holds a Master of Applied Science in Project Management and a PhD in Built Environment. For more than a decade, Payam has undertaken applied research, in collaboration with private and public sector construction organisations, on the topics of safety in design, measuring and managing health and safety performance, job quality and mental health, and improving the construction industry culture to support workers’ health and wellbeing.
Payam has taught post-gradute students in Occupational Health and Safety degree. He also actively supervises higher degree by research students.
Payam has published numerous peer reviewed journal papers, book chapters, conference papers and research-to-practice reports. His research topics include: Construction Health and Safety, Applications of Technology in Construction, Robotics and Human-Robot Teaming in Construction, and Data Analytics in Construction Management.
