Robert Connolly is an Australian filmmaker best known for the feature films Balibo, Paper Planes and The Bank. In television his credits include The Slap, Barracuda and most recently the political thriller Deep State.

He has just completed filming on the screen adaptation of Jane Harper’s bestseller The Dry.

Robert’s work is well known for its political and social themes, and for pioneering innovative approaches to production and distribution through his company Arenamedia.

He has also championed the work of Indigenous filmmakers through works that include Bangarra Dance Theatre’s first film Spear, the ABC television series The Warriors and Tim Winton’s The Turning.
