Obligations as an RMIT Education Agent

Agents (including all counsellors) should ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities included in the RMIT Agent Agreement including (but not limited to):

  • upholding the high reputation of RMIT and its campuses within Australia and overseas
  • promoting RMIT and its programs with accuracy and integrity, in an ethical and responsible manner
  • recruiting suitable quality students who meet academic entry requirements; recruit students who can demonstrate they have sufficient funds to support themselves (and if applicable, their dependants) for the duration of their study
  • ensuring students are planning to be genuine temporary entrants to Australia with the purpose of achieving a successful education outcome and returning home
  • providing students with current information regarding the University, entry requirements, the program, fees, living in Australia, a description of the ESOS framework prior to completing an application for a program
  • ensuring that a student’s qualifications, experience and English language proficiency are appropriate for the program
  • advising students who come to Australia on a student visa they are bound by student visa obligations including, but not limited to, studying on a full-time basis and completing within the time stated on the eCoE
  • demonstrating actions taken to understand and comply with legislative requirements of the intended country of study, which in Australia is the ESOS regulatory framework and student visa regulations accessed here.

As an RMIT University Agent, you must comply with and assist RMIT to comply with :

and any regulations, codes, and guidelines under these documents.

You must access resources to understand:

(a) RMIT and the Agent’s obligations under the ESOS Act; and

(b) Australian student visa regulations.

You must provide each prospective student with all the relevant information relating to the ESOS Act and the National Code.
