0:05: The University has been involved in aviation and aerospace for more than 80 years and has been training pilots for more than 30 years.
0:15: The Aviation Academy is based at the Royal Australian Air Force Base of Point Cook and our secondary base is Bendigo in Regional Vic.
0:24: We have the largest fleet in the higher education sector and we are training the future aviation professionals not only here in Australia, but to serve the world globally with bases in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and China.
0:39: Our students have the opportunity to study with our partners and learn from our industry partnerships.
0:47: We're one of the only universities in the country that has its own fleet of aircraft.
0:51: We are able to provide training in different facets of the industry, not just in flight training, but also the broader aviation industry through other other programs.
1:02: I think having a regional presence is really important, particularly in Australia.
1:05: When we have such a large regional aviation industry, Being able to provide training to people who are already living in regional Australia or regional Victoria is just such a good offering for the university.
1:18: I can potentially train where they live and then continue working where they live.
1:22: Beyond just being a commercial pilot, so like an airline pilot there, there's there's so many different things that you can do before you even get this.
1:29: There's aerial photography, aerial surveying, there's search and rescue, there's border surveillance, skydiving, yeah, there's, there's a multitude of things.
1:39: So it's more than what you would think.
1:43: Being a pilot or an aviation professional is not just about the technical skills, it's also about the non-technical skills.
1:50: The aviation Academy is setting up our future aviation professionals to have the right skills and mindset to lead the future of the sector.
2:01: The best thing about being a pilot is the exhilaration of being up in the air looking down on the world.
2:08: It's just a passion that people who want to be pilots have for getting into an aircraft and lifting off from the ground.
