Dr Fengming Xu is a Lecturer in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at RMIT University. His research focuses on high-performance and sustainable concrete, with interests in (i) additive manufacturing and 3D-printed concrete structures; (ii) development of low-carbon cementitious composites incorporating recycled materials; and (iii) advanced structural systems such as topologically interlocked and bio-inspired designs.
As a key member of research projects, Dr Xu has contributed to multiple studies dedicated to low-carbon construction materials, digital fabrication, and sustainable infrastructure. His research outcomes have been published in leading journals in the field, including Cement and Concrete Composites and Construction and Building Materials.
Dr Xu received his PhD in Civil Engineering from RMIT University in 2023. Before joining RMIT as a Lecturer in 2025, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and RMIT University. He is currently supervising 6 undergraduate capstone projects, 3 Master’s students, and 2 HDR students.
