College of Business and Law Student Leader program

Stand out from the crowd by gaining real-world leadership experience, expanding your professional network, and contributing to high-profile College events and initiatives.

The Student Leader Program is a volunteer opportunity designed to help students make the most of their university experience. Through involvement in CoBL events and initiatives, Student Leaders develop valuable leadership and professional skills, build connections with fellow students and staff, and expand their networks beyond their studies. The program provides hands-on experience in communication, teamwork, mentoring, and event support, helping students grow their confidence and enhance their employability while making a positive contribution to the student community.

As a Student Leader, you’ll get involved in a range of activities, including:

• SSCC (Student Consultative Committee): Gather feedback and work with staff to improve student experience.
• Orientation: Welcome and support new students as they transition into university life.
• Open Day: Share your experience and engage with future students and families.
• Campus Tours: Guide prospective students and showcase campus life and opportunities.
• Events & Engagement: Support events, workshops, and activities throughout the year.
• Marketing Initiatives: Contribute to marketing and promotional activities that increase student awareness and engagement.

By taking part in the Student Leader Program, you can:

• Strengthen your confidence in professional and student-facing settings
• Build practical experience you can speak to in job applications and interviews
• Grow your network across the College and wider RMIT community
• Develop a stronger understanding of student engagement and university events
• Receive recognition through a Certificate of Appreciation
  

We're looking for students who:

• Are current CoBL students and have completed at least one semester.
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Enjoy connecting with and supporting others.
• Can represent the College in a professional and positive manner.

Desirable: Previous involvement in volunteering, peer mentoring, clubs and societies, WIL, or community activities.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.

In line with RMIT’s Child Safe Framework, all volunteers are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) before commencing volunteer activities at RMIT.
