Chinese Australian Studies Forum

The Chinese Australian Studies Forum at RMIT builds strong connections across Chinese-Australian communities, industries, researchers and the broader Australian society.

RMIT University established the Chinese Australian Studies Forum in 1998.

RMIT University recognises the need for the Forum in response to:

  • the opportunities and challenges associated with the complexities of globalisation
  • the aspirations of Chinese Australian communities to make productive contributions to Australia
  • the imperative to build positive relations between Australia and Asia
  • the broad and diverse range of Chinese Australians' engagement in local and global affairs, and cultural and educational exchanges.

The Forum organises research seminars, public lectures and community events to facilitate knowledge translation and community building. It offers a platform for members of Chinese Australian communities to voice views, express interests, exchange knowledge, and bridge local and global networks.

The Chinese Australian Studies Forum is based in the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies at RMIT, and is driven by a university-wide, community-oriented network of members.
