Interactive visual training materials for high-risk construction activities, health, safety and wellbeing

This project involves developing interactive visual training resources about risk-based decision making in commercial and residential construction work environments.

Summary

The purpose of this project is to develop and evaluate a set of scenario-based, interactive visual learning resources to provide managers, supervisors and workers with the knowledge and skills required to exercise risk-based decision-making in dynamic construction project work environments.

The development of these resources is based upon a participatory design process, involving interviews with construction workers, to provide an in-depth understanding of real-life situations they experience in site-based construction work. The resources will be in the form of playable ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ scenarios in which the health and safety consequences of decisions made by people involved in the design, planning and execution of work are explored.

The project is being conducted as a result of an enforceable undertaking between J Hutchinson and WorkSafe Victoria.

Simonds Group are supporting Hutchinson Builders, enabling the scope of the resources to include both commercial/industrial and residential construction scenarios.
