Incoming study abroad and exchange students

A guide to RMIT's minimum English language proficiency requirements for students completing Exchange or Study Abroad programs.

Students from RMIT Exchange partners completing Exchange programs are not required to submit proof of an English language competency. Your home institution will confirm that you have the sufficient level of English for non-award studies at RMIT as part of your online nomination.

Students completing Study Abroad programs are required to demonstrate English language proficiency requirements based on approved tests and qualification types set out in the tables below.  Where an English language proficiency test is used for admission, the test must be taken no more than two years prior to the RMIT program commencement date.

English language proficiency assessment may also be based on the completion of tertiary level courses where English is the language of instruction for the subjects/courses taken in that program (minimum of 1 year or the equivalent of 60 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). See Recognised qualifications and English speaking countries for more information.
