Mangrove Story Circle is an open, participatory session inviting visitors/students to share their personal, cultural, ecological, and sensory connections to mangrove worlds.

Rooted in the themes of Future Sonic Ecologies, the session extends the exhibition’s focus on listening, multispecies entanglements and planetary ethics. Participants gather in an informal circle to exchange memories of coastal places, encounters with wetlands, experiences of environmental change, or reflections inspired by the exhibition’s immersive soundscapes. Together, they co-create a living oral archive that highlights diverse relationships with mangrove ecologies, complementing the field recordings and sonic materials from the Sundarbans, Mornington Peninsula, and Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island.

The session concludes with a shared reflection: How do our individual stories connect to collective responsibilities for coastal stewardship, and how might storytelling itself become a form of listening—and action—toward regenerative futures?

This public program is presented by RMIT University as part of the exhibition 'Future Sonic Ecologies" at First Site Gallery.
