In 2025, political commentators Barrie Cassidy and Tony Barry took to The Wheeler Centre stage to unpack the federal election in front of a sold-out audience. Now, they return with their sights set firmly on Victoria.

As the state enters the final days of the election campaign, the Barries will dissect the contest, explore the issues shaping the race and consider what the result might mean for Victoria over the next four years – and for the broader national political landscape.

Before the conversation, Dylan Bird, a lecturer in journalism at RMIT University and host of Future Perfect on Triple R, will provide a contextual introduction. Drawing on his academic research, he will explore the role of media in democracy and the ways journalism shapes our understanding of political contests.
