The Professional Certificate in Cloud Ecosystem Design is a postgraduate-level non-award course designed for professionals looking to upskill or transition into cloud-focused IT careers.
Delivered in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), this professional certificate integrates rigorous academic learning with industry-driven training. Through intensive coursework, applied projects and AWS-certified learning modules, you will develop specialist knowledge in cloud architecture, automation, security and governance.
Through use of industry-standard tools and platforms, you'll build practical expertise in designing, deploying and managing enterprise-grade cloud solutions.
You will learn to analyse enterprise requirements, design and optimise cloud solutions, manage risk and governance considerations, and communicate technical recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
Upon completion, you would have built the technical and professional capabilities required to contribute to cloud-enabled organisations, advancing your career in cloud computing and moving a step closer to leadership roles in the rapidly evolving cloud ecosystem.
You will work in authentic cloud environments and develop practical skills in cloud architecture, automation, containerisation, serverless technologies, security and governance.
Hands-on AWS labs and applied enterprise projects allow you to put your knowledge into practice while developing the problem-solving, communication and decision-making skills required in contemporary cloud roles.
Industry-partnered learning is embedded throughout the course, helping you adapt your capabilities to emerging technologies and cloud transformation opportunities.
You will learn through a combination of academic learning, AWS industry content, practical cloud labs and applied enterprise projects.
The course uses challenge-based learning in authentic cloud environments. Learning activities include AWS Academy modules, interactive online modules, case-based examples, laboratory exercises, video introductions and walkthroughs, knowledge checks, hands-on AWS labs, applied projects, facilitated discussions and consultations with AWS facilitators.
The course uses blended hybrid delivery, combining online learning with face-to-face learning and independent study. Learning resources, activities and assessments are also supported through RMIT's Learning Management System, Canvas.
Learning and teaching are designed around the realities of professional cloud practice, with an emphasis on independent learning, critical reflection and applied problem-solving.
Challenge-based learning allows you to build, test and demonstrate your capabilities by addressing complex enterprise challenges. Practical activities give you opportunities to configure, implement and optimise solutions using tools employed in industry, while applied projects require you to analyse requirements, justify architectural decisions and communicate solutions to specialist and non-specialist stakeholders.
Assessment is active, authentic and applied, allowing you to demonstrate both your advanced cloud knowledge and your ability to apply that knowledge in practice.
Assessment activities mirror tasks undertaken by cloud professionals and may include:
Projects require you to design, implement, document and present cloud solutions addressing authentic organisational needs.
The types of classes you have will depend on the course you’re studying. Classes are offered in various formats designed to provide meaningful engagement with staff, industry and peers and provide for access and use of spaces where learning can be applied and active, including an array of specialised equipment.
Most RMIT courses do not include passive large-scale classes such as lectures, instead the content traditionally provided in lectures is made available online. This may be in the form of readings, videos or other on-demand learning materials. This content will also support the basis of interactive learning that takes place in on-campus classes.
The world is constantly changing, and there are universal skills that can help you adapt to the evolving nature of work and global engagement.
As part of your study experience at RMIT, we provide 6 future-focused RMIT Capabilities:
RMIT Capabilities are built into your course as well as some of our extracurricular experiences. They inform the design and delivery of your learning activities and assessments, so by the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to apply these capabilities in your life and work.
The Professional Certificate in Cloud Ecosystem Design is delivered in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), integrating AWS learning modules, cloud environments and industry-focused learning experiences.
The course is also informed through consultation with an Industry Advisory Committee comprising representatives from industry and professional institutions. These connections help ensure that program content and learning outcomes remain aligned with the needs of employers and contemporary professional practice.
RMIT academic staff also maintain industry connections to support industry-related learning experiences and provide professional career advice.
