You will experience a range of learning approaches including learner-centred curriculum, learning activities and assessment tasks.

Subjects in this course are delivered online to support flexible learning. The subjects use the Canvas learning management system for electronic provision of course material and/or other relevant documents.

Learning and teaching

The teaching approach in this program is designed to extend your development as a reflective and self-directed clinical educator, enabling you to extend and apply your capabilities in diverse professional contexts beyond the program. The teaching method includes:

  • asynchronous online learning and seminars where concepts will be presented using real world examples
  • synchronous online interactive, immersive sessions where you will work on problems individually and in groups, discuss materials being learned, participate in scenarios which simulate your workplace and deliver presentations
  • self-directed learning through Canvas to support flexible learning
  • access to relevant and contemporary online resources
  • group-based learning activities.

You will be expected to complete all prescribed out-of-class learning activities in preparation of scheduled online immersive activities and encouraged to extend your learning through additional recommended readings and online activities that are self-paced.

Assessment methods

Assessment is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities. Various forms of assessment will be used throughout the course since the assessment you undertake will be appropriate to the objectives and student learning outcomes for each subject.

Your assessment in this professional certificate will depend on the requirements of each subject, but may include a portfolio, action plan written tasks, and oral presentations.

This professional certificate is available in flexible online delivery mode, comprising modules with significant asynchronous, self-paced online learning.

On average, you will spend approximately 4-6 hours per week, per subject, on online learning and assessment activities, for a total workload of approximately 120 hours for the course.

You must meet the University's minimum English language requirements to be eligible for a place in this program.

You need to satisfy all of the following requirements to be considered for entry into this course.

You must have successfully completed a qualification recognised by RMIT as equivalent to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) with a minimum average of 65% (see calculator below).

Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies course or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.

Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted.

There are no prerequisite subjects required for entry into this qualification.

A selection task is not required for entry into this qualification.

To study this course you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 79 (with minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Note: RMIT does not accept scores from 'at-home' or 'online' testing.

Upon completion, you'll receive a formal graduation certificate. Your completion will also be noted on the RMIT student records system, providing the foundation for those who wish to extend their study into formal qualifications.
