Basic entry requirements

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:

  • hold the MSL40122 or MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques.

OR

  • hold a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification in a related field with Chemistry and Biology.

OR

  • can provide evidence of technical laboratory skills, knowledge and employment experience with Chemistry and Biology. Evidence may include, but is not limited to:
    • a detailed CV.
    • a detailed personal statement.
    • a Statement of Attainment or transcript of results for previous study in a related field.

Applicants applying on a basis of entry other than successful completion of MSL40122 or MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques from RMIT may be required to complete one or more prerequisite units which will extend the total duration of their program. Further information is provided at the time of enrolment.

Pathway requirement
Successful completion of RMIT's Diploma of Laboratory Technology guarantees entry into the Bachelor of Science and receive credit to a value of up to 48 credit points. Further credit may apply to the following majors in the Bachelor of Science: -Any major except physics and a generalist minor in Biosciences: 36 credit points of exemption (equivalent to 1 semester full-time study) -Biological Science or Biotechnology major with no generalist minor: 48 credit points of exemption (equivalent to 1 semester full-time study) Note: while the maximum credit that may be offered can total 96 credit points (equivalent to 1-year standard full-time study), the amount of time required to complete the remaining study may exceed 2 years.
