Artificial Intelligence

Gain hands-on skills in AI, data science, and computer science, learning to design smart solutions through real-world applications like prediction, automation, and problem-solving.

The Data Science & AI Discipline contributes to teaching across all programs within the School, with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, data science, and computer science.

Our AI and data science courses provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the field of AI—its goals, foundations, and applications. We cover both classical approaches, such as A* search, and contemporary methods, including deep learning. Students gain hands-on experience in data wrangling, uncovering insights from raw data, predicting outcomes like house prices, and building automated solutions for tasks such as robotic navigation and financial planning.

In computer science, our curriculum builds strong foundations in programming, algorithms, data structures, and the theoretical analysis of computational complexity. Students also have the opportunity to specialise through minors in AI, Data Science, Bioinformatics, and Advanced Computer Science.

A key focus of our teaching is applying computing to solve real-world problems. From learning the fundamentals of programming to choosing the most effective approach—whether AI, data science, or computer science—we emphasize practical problem-solving and the thoughtful selection of tools, algorithms, and methodologies to design effective solutions.
