PhD Scholarship in Machine Learning

Develop and apply machine learning and bioinformatic algorithms in biomedical research.

Join our multidisciplinary research team to develop and apply machine learning and bioinformatic algorithms in biomedical research. This PhD project will focus on developing machine learning, statistical and bioinformatic algorithms for the analysis of microscopic images and data obtained by various biochemical and biological assays.     

You will be part of and mentored by a multidisciplinary team, including members specialising in biology, microfluidics, machine learning and clinical research from RMIT University and Leading Technology Group (LTG). LTG is an Australian group of medical research companies that spans research equipment and reagents, hospital software and clinical trials. LTG'S research mission is to accelerate medical research and they hope to achieve that goal through microfluids and machine learning in this collaboration with RMIT.

The scholarship will provide a stipend of $31,885 per annum. The duration of this scholarship is 3 years with the possibility of a six-month extension.

  • Highly motivated and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Masters or Honours degrees in computer science or engineering
  • Strong computer science skills and some experience with statistical, machine learning, and image processing techniques
  • Strong candidates with electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering backgrounds can also apply.
