PhD Scholarship in Target Detection and Tracking

This scholarship is for someone with a background in electrical or computer engineering. It will involve investigating a new methodology for target detection and tracking using machine learning.

This research project is to understand how machine learning can be exploited in the areas of target detection and tracking. Develop tracking expertise in a new student who can subsequently work at either at DSTG or in local industry/ academia. Contribute outcomes to a number of relevant projects within defence.

$40,000 per annum for 3 years duration

The candidate will be working on Signal Processing/Control Path Planning/Trajectory Planning Multi-Target Tracking/Multi-Object Tracking, Bayesian Filtering, Radom Finite Set filters or closely related multi-target tracking approaches in radar. Fluency in written and spoken English, with an ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience, both orally and written A strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently, and as a member of a broader team, including with industrial partners Programming experience and expertise in Python and/or Matlab and/or C++.
