The exhibition works explore what happens when making is shared with the material world. Created by leaving porcelain to dry outdoors, each form is shaped not only by the artist’s hand but also by sunlight, wind, heat and time. Environmental conditions — and the uncertainty they bring — define the resulting works; cracks, warping and distortion become visible records of exposure.
The installation presents a field of ceramic forms supported by a plinth made from rammed earth, the same material used in the casting process. Together, these elements reinforce the connection between material, process and display, while also more subtly revealing the artist’s labour and the gradual entropy of environmental forces.
Balancing order with unpredictability, Wayfaring reflects on authorship, control and collaboration. The exhibition invites close looking and contemplation, offering a quiet meditation on intention, fragility and inevitable transformation.

Jade Power is a Melbourne-based emerging artist working in expanded ceramics. Her practice investigates the entangled relationships between maker, matter and environment, exploring how material, atmosphere and place act as active collaborators in the creative process. Drawing on Posthumanist and New Materialist frameworks, Power questions anthropocentric notions of authorship, highlighting the agency of matter and the co-creative potential of more-than-human forces.
Her work responds to the conditions and potentials of materials within their specific contexts, allowing these factors to guide form and meaning. By embracing uncertainty, transformation and material unpredictability, Power challenges fixed outcomes and explores alternative ways of knowing, making and being in the world.
Power completed her Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) (Honours) at RMIT University in 2025. Her work was selected for Hatched: National Graduate Show in Perth, and she was the recipient of the RMIT Creative Residency Award, the Fiona and Sidney Myer Ceramic Art Award, the Stockroom Kyneton Exhibition Award, and the Ceramics and Glass Circle of Australia Annual Award.
