Arrival dates for under-18 students requiring a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter

If you require a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter (CAAW), you must only arrive in Australia two weeks before your course commences.

The Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter (CAAW) will be issued when an U18 has approved welfare ‘Option 2’ arrangements with RMIT.

Option 2: RMIT agrees to take responsibility for the student’s accommodation, support and general welfare by ensuring the student will live in an approved accommodate site and engage the services of an approved caregiver.

The earliest a CAAW letter can be issued is two weeks before your course commencement. A CAAW letter will begin on the first date that an U18 student has approved accommodation and a caregiver.
