Arrival dates for under-18 students requiring a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter

If you require a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter (CAAW), you must only arrive in Australia two weeks before your course commences.

Under 18 student Airport pickup service – Holiday closure notice

Our office will be closed for the university break and public holidays from 24 December 2025 to 1 January 2026. During this time, airport pickup requests will not be processed, and the airport pickup service will not be available. If you plan to arrive on 2 or 3 January 2026, please ensure your airport pickup request is submitted by 19 December 2025. Students and agents should plan accordingly to ensure smooth arrivals. For further assistance, please contact isunder18@rmit.edu.au

The Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare letter (CAAW) will be issued when an Under 18 student has approved welfare ‘Option 2’ arrangements with RMIT.

Option 2: RMIT agrees to take responsibility for the student’s accommodation, support and general welfare by ensuring the student will live in an approved accommodate site and engage the services of an approved caregiver.

The earliest a CAAW letter can be issued is two weeks before your course commencement. A CAAW letter will begin on the first date that an Under 18 student has approved accommodation and a caregiver.
