STEM Hub minors

The STEM Hub minors are part of RMIT's commitment to transdisciplinary learning experiences that engage learners with cutting-edge research and industry-embedded projects.

Adding depth and versatility to your studies, the STEM Hub minors offer breadth and experiential learning by embedding industry-partnered learning that draw on our research strengths and strong industry connections.

You'll be trained to think logically, work with evidence, and design innovative solutions – skills that build employability and resilience in a changing workforce.

Each minor typically consists of 4 subjects that provide technical foundations and understanding to shape your curriculum and enrich your learning. Project-based subjects in the minors offer opportunities to learn across disciplinary boundaries in key combinations, such as health and digital, business and engineering.

The fourth subject, taken at the culmination of the minor, typically includes an industry engagement experience, enabling you to consolidate knowledge and skills developed across your study.

How can a STEM Hub minor enhance your degree?

Broaden your skill set

Step outside your main field of study and gain skills that complement or diversify your expertise. This can make you more versatile and adaptable in the job market.

Career flexibility

Combine your core qualification with a STEM minor to open alternative career pathways. For example, a Business major with a minor in Digital Innovation can branch into tech entrepreneurship or management roles.

Personal enrichment

The minors are your chance to pursue personal passions or interests without committing to a full degree in that field. This can make your study experience more engaging and well-rounded.

Can I add a STEM Hub Minor to my degree?

The STEM Hub Minors are open to all undergraduate students at RMIT. If you are currently studying an undergraduate degree (bachelor or honours), discuss your options with your program manager.

If you are planning to study an undergraduate degree (bachelor or honours) at RMIT, check if your intended degree allows for minors from outside the structure of your chosen course. If it does, you may be able to select to study these minors from your second year in your degree.

In most cases, you can also select the subjects available in the minor as University Electives, even if you cannot complete the full minor.
