Showcasing Foundation Studies in South-East Asia and China

Hundreds of prospective students across South-East Asia and China experienced the hands-on, practical nature of an RMIT UP Foundation Studies class through interactive demonstrations delivered by our teachers across the region.

Earlier this year, Foundation Studies Art, Design and Architecture teachers, Alec Robinson and Ceallaigh Norman, and Business teacher, Kristina Matias, delivered Design and Business demonstrations for prospective students and parents in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and China, bringing the RMIT UP classroom experience to life

These sessions give students and parents a real taste of RMIT-style learning—interactive, creative and focused on practical, real-world skills. They see first-hand the quality of our teaching, learn more about the support available and gain insight into the kind of classroom experience students can expect when studying at RMIT UP in Melbourne, Australia.

Alec led four highly engaging art classes in Nanjing and Guangzhou, China, while Ceallaigh’s students in Surabaya, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, had a great time learning about the elements and principles of art and design. Kristina’s students in Phnom Penh enjoyed learning about the factors that influence buyer behaviour in an insightful marketing and communication lesson.

Ceallaigh was impressed by the level of art and design interest and talent across the region.

Students had a diverse range of art and design experience and many displayed a strong intuitive design sense, quickly grasping the principles of design and being able to apply them intentionally and creatively

Feedback from students, teachers, agents and parents about the classes has been overwhelmingly positive. They praised how engaging our teachers are and noted that the sessions strengthened their confidence in choosing RMIT UP, while students said the classes were a great way to express themselves freely through art.

A huge thank you to Ceallaigh, Kristina, Alec, Stephanie Ang, RMIT Assistant Regional Manager, South-East Asia, Leanne Liang, RMIT International Prospective Student Case Manager, Kent Archie, RMIT Recruitment Manager, Indonesia and RMIT Recruitment Consultant, Fenny Suwandhi for coordinating these events.

Thanks also to our partners and participating schools across the region, parents and to the amazing students who took part in our demonstration classes. We look forward to welcoming many of you to RMIT UP in Melbourne soon!
