Registering to use the Facility
To register as a user of the RMIT Microscopy & Microanalysis Facility (RMMF), we require that you complete the following online inductions and read our rules/regulations.
When you complete the Registration form and the safety modules, please email the completion certificates to email@example.com and then your access request will be reviewed. This may take up to 1 week.
Access to instruments is not guaranteed.
Undergraduate students - RMMF registration is only available to staff, postgraduate students and Honours students. (Not undergraduate students completing final year capstone project)
If a staff member wishes to have undergraduate students in the RMMF, a registered user would be required to make a booking and operate the microscope as a demonstration.
Undergraduate students can only be present as guests of the registered user. As guests, for their safety, the undergraduate student/s would have to be either in the company of the registered users at all times, or have completed the RMMF online safety induction. For the safety of the equipment, guests would not be permitted to load samples or be left to operate the microscope by themselves.

Also, if you already have any previous experience with using electron microscope, AFM, experience let us know how much, what model etc.
3. Online Instrument Training
For users requesting access to either SEM, TEM, EDX (Microanalysis) and/or AFM, completion of online training modules are required prior to beginning any hands on training.
Please read all the notes in the relevent MyScope modules and "Take the test" for any instruments that you need to use. When you pass the test, email the completion certificates to firstname.lastname@example.org
Registered users can book through the online booking system.
Bookings must be made by the person who will use the instrument.
Normal operating times are 9.30 am – 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Cancellations and no-shows
If you can't use your booking, please cancel it as soon as possible to allow others use the instrument. Bookings not taken up within 20 minutes will be offered to other users.
If you cancel a booking less than 24 hours before the booking, please ring the Duty Microscopist on 0408 541 483, so we can offer the instrument to others on stand by.
