Events

Our Events Seasons curate a selection of events around a theme aligned with regenerative futures.

Exploring how we can rebuild and improve social, environmental and economic systems to create a more just and sustainable world.

We connect the public, government, industry and students so the impact outlives the event. Lasting change needs more than one sector acting alone.

Our approach

During each season, we act as an enabler and amplifier. We support people within RMIT and the wider community to deliver events aligned with RFI and the season's theme.

Our events take a regenerative approach to catering and energy. All events hosted on campus are powered by 100% renewable energy.

Working with a sustainable food expert, we consider our food choices holistically, taking into account supply chains, and the impact it has on the earth.

Spring 2026 theme: Energy Futures

The power to change everything

How we power our cities, homes and vehicles matters – but so does the energy embedded in everything we build and make. The future of energy isn't just a question of technology. It's a question of transformation.

What shifts in our society, built environment and economy are needed to move from extracting energy to regenerating it?

Australia sits at the centre of an acute contradiction: pursuing an ambitious renewable transition while remaining a major fossil fuel exporter. That tension is live, urgent and unresolved – and it's exactly the kind of problem regenerative thinking is built for.

Join the RMIT Regenerative Futures Institute as we unpack the future of energy, in Australia and beyond, and get to work rebuilding social, environmental and economic systems for a more just and sustainable world.
