Safer Construction – The Development of a Guide to Best Practice

Summary

The research identified industry best practices in relation to improving occupational health and safety across the construction project life cycle.

The project was led by Engineers Australia and guided by an industry steering group comprising public and private sector construction clients, professional bodies representing designers (architects and engineers) and industry associations.

The research produced a guide to sharing responsibility for occupational health and safety between clients, designers and constructors in the Australian construction industry.

The impact of the guide was recognised by Engineers Australia with the award of an Engineering Excellence Award in 2010.
