Security and Resilience Hub

The Security & Resilience Hub offers a wide range of industry training programs and initiatives that train and upskill the next generation of graduates as well as industry professionals.

Our varied expertise ranges topics related to national and digital security, infrastructure and asset management, predictive modelling and maintenance, risk and assurance, and disaster modelling and response, which together with our strong network of industry partners, allows us to develop general and bespoke training offerings. The topics that our existing programs address are digital engineering, cyber security awareness, AI and Autonomy and fire safety engineering. More details on these offerings are below. 

Skills Solutions Partnerships (SSPs) program

In partnership with industry, the S&R Hub has developed six micro-credentials in high-demand fields, including Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Mission Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy, Cybersecurity and Fire safety design.  

The micro-credentials take 6 weeks to complete, are asynchronous and are delivered online.

Think and communicate at mission level. Model and analyse complex national security missions across air, land, sea, space and cyber domains using industry standard tools — building practical skills in mission analysis, capability gap identification and stakeholder communication.

Manage complexity with structured system models and SysML across the full engineering lifecycle — from requirements through to verification and validation. Develop the skills to design, analyse and communicate complex engineered systems with confidence.

AI and autonomous systems are reshaping national security across logistics, maritime awareness, cyber operations and more. Gain foundational knowledge of AI principles, autonomous systems, human-machine teaming and ethical considerations.

Build practical knowledge of the cyber threat landscape, information warfare, foreign interference, insider risks and emerging technologies — alongside the governance frameworks and legal and policy context shaping Australia's national cyber operations.

Fire safety is becoming increasingly important as battery energy storage systems, solar photovoltaics and electric vehicle charging are integrated into Australian buildings and critical infrastructure. Specialist capability is needed to understand their unique fire behaviours and manage the implications for fire safety design, compliance, detection, suppression and emergency response.

Digital modelling and simulation are increasingly central to performance-based fire safety design. Advanced capability in 3D fire and smoke modelling, pedestrian egress simulation, and the critical interpretation of modelling outputs enables professionals to apply sound judgement to complex fire safety challenges.
