Dr Ancy Gamage is a management researcher and academic with experience in academic leadership, and industry engagement. Her research focuses on building inclusion and resilience in organisations and broader communities. Her research career is guided by a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. Dr Gamage has been involved in large scale government-funded research projects examining workforce inclusion and retention in the visitor economy in Australia, Fiji, and Indonesia. She has co-authored major technical and policy reports in collaboration with a range of industry stakeholders (including the UNWTO and the Victoria Tourism Industry Council) and has published in A-ranked journals. She is currently leading a government-funded research project on building inclusive active outdoor recreation experiences for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse women.
Since joining RMIT in late 2023, Dr Gamage has been appointed as the Program Manager for the Bachelor of Business (Management and Change) program. Between 2016 to 2023, she worked at Victoria University where she received several research and teaching excellence awards and held leadership roles, including as the Transnational Education Site Coordinator for programs delivered in Sunway (Malaysia). Prior to working in academia, Dr Gamage has held advisory positions in the legal field in Mauritius. She is currently serving on the board of ‘Africause’, a not-for-profit organization looking after the welfare of African and other Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
As an educator, Dr Gamage’s teaching philosophy draws on the concept of constructivism which recognizes that learners ‘construct’ their own meaning by building on prior knowledge and experience. She is committed to creating the optimum learning environment that will enable students to discover meaning and understanding through a learner-centered approach. She is particularly focused constructive alignment and active learning activities and that promote deep learning as well as building trusting and respectful relationships with an increasingly diverse student cohort.

Dr Gamage’s research interests lie on workplace and community inclusion and resilience. Her research interests include topics like diversity management from an intersectionality perspective (ethnicity, gender, and neurodiversity), ethics and leadership, and innovative teaching pedagogies.
