About

Dr Bhagya Gunawardena is an applied economist with primary research interests in the economics of education, gender economics, labour economics, and experimental and behavioural economics. Her current projects centre on identifying cost-effective strategies to improve learning and educational outcomes and minimising female under-representation in high-paying occupations, with particular emphasis on peer learning, performance, and preference towards STEM. For her research, Bhagya primarily uses experimental and quasi-experimental methods.

Teaching interests

I am currently coordinating and teaching Diverse Perspectives on the World Economy and co-coordinating Strategic Games for Business at the undergraduate level. I have experience in tutoring Mathematical Techniques for Economics and Economic Analysis of Strategy at the Postgraduate level with a high level of student satisfaction.
