Learning from Research and Policy: Delivering Affordable Retrofit

Join RMIT's Post-Carbon Research Centre in collaboration with Sustainable House Day for a panel conversation exploring the latest policy debates, research findings, and on-the-ground experiences shaping the future of home retrofits in Australia and beyond.

Retrofit of existing homes features heavily on the policy agenda, with initiatives like the Victorian Energy Upgrades and Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative (SHEPI) for social home energy upgrades and the likely introduction of a Mandatory Disclosure at point of sale or lease in the coming years.

This panel conversation explores the latest policy debates and research outcomes of retrofit activities for existing homes in Australia and internationally. The discussion will showcase the latest evidence and consider how that might influence retrofit policy.

Panellists:

Associate Professor Trivess Moore, Precincts Cluster Co-Lead, Post-Carbon Research Centre, RMIT University

April Muirden, Principal Policy Officer and former manager of the Residential Efficiency Scorecard team, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, State Government of Victoria

Donna Luckman, Merri-bek City Council, Zero Carbon Campaigns Lead

Felicia Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, Enviroflex Insulation

Chaired by:

Professor Karien Dekker, Housing Cluster Co-Lead, Post-Carbon Research Centre, RMIT University
