Melbourne Fringe Opening Night Gala

RMIT University is overjoyed to partner with Melbourne Fringe again this year across a number of events. First up is Fringe's Opening Night Gala!

Grace the legendary purple carpet on Opening Night and enjoy a curated, genre-defying special selection of acts from the 2025 program in this variety showcase: bold ideas, high-voltage performances, and independent art that hits you differently. Hosted by Fringe star Sammy J, expect visionary voices, creative fire starters, and cultural risk-takers, all handpicked for a night of glory.

Before the performances unfurl, step onto the purple carpet and bring your childhood heroes to life. Maybe you’ve come as a cartoon hero, a pop culture icon, an everyday person you admired, or an unexpected mash-up of your favourite childhood legends. It’s your moment to honour who made you brave.

Why just watch Fringe, when you can live it?

Supported by RMIT University, in partnership with Melbourne Fringe.
