Who we are

Launched in 2023, the Social Equity Research Centre provides a platform for a multidisciplinary community of practice across a range of thematic areas related to delivering transformational research for social justice and equity. Working in partnership we generate excellent innovative research that drives policy and practice transformation.

The Social Equity Research Centre focuses on wide ranging critical research areas and the intersections within, grouped under four research themes:

Community wellbeing

Gender and harm

Local global relations

Housing insecurity and homelessness

Our Sustainable Development Focus

We are committed to and aligned with six UN Sustainable Development Goals: good health and well-being; quality education; gender equity; reduced inequalities; sustainable cities and communities; and peace, justice and strong institutions.

Our principles

  • Framing research through strengths-based lenses
  • Encouraging research models and methods that engage with lived experience
  • Committing to Indigenous values, learnings, and principles
  • Respecting and valuing inclusion and diversity
