Banff Mountain Film Festival 2026

Presented by World Expeditions, the 2026 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings a thrilling three-hour showcase of award-winning short films featuring climbers, skiers, riders, paddlers and explorers. Expect breathtaking cinematography, gripping stories and heart-pounding action from the world's wildest places.

The 2026 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour delivers an electrifying three-hour journey into the culture, challenge and joy of mountain life. Fresh from Canada's legendary Banff Mountain Festival, the world's largest and most prestigious celebration of mountain cinema, the tour gathers standout award winners and crowd favourites selected from a field of more than 300 films. Each year the World Tour reaches 390 communities across 35 countries, sharing incomparable stories of adventure, exploration, environment and human spirit.

The Australian programme features an extraordinary collection of short films captured in Earth's wildest, most remote locations. Fly with speed wings across razor ridgelines, drop into untouched powder, surf river features, and cling to improbable limestone, while trail runners, bikers, paddlers, skiers and climbers push beyond fear and fatigue. Expect breathtaking cinematography that transports you to seemingly impossible places, coupled with intimate character portraits and nail-biting sequences that will leave you holding your breath. Handpicked for big-screen impact, the line-up balances adrenaline with humour and environmental insight, spotlighting local communities, cutting-edge filmmaking craft and the camaraderie that binds mountain people. Expect moments of triumph, vulnerability and awe, all set against staggering alpine, desert and coastal backdrops.

Whether you are an armchair adventurer or a seasoned weekend warrior, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is a communal big-screen experience that inspires, entertains and ignites wanderlust. Join the global Banff community and celebrate the stories that move us to explore and protect the places we love.
