Host organisation

When you become a Host Organisation for RMIT pre-service teacher (PST) students, you’ll join a network of dedicated educators schools and centres committed to nurturing future teaching professionals. By guiding and supporting emerging educators, you also enrich your own team’s learning and leadership skills.

Education placements

As a host, your educational setting, be it a school or an early childhood centre, can mentor enthusiastic, committed students eager to make a difference. You’ll also help enrich your learning environment and encourage professional development within your team. RMIT provides ongoing support to all placement centres, ensuring the process is rewarding and straightforward for everyone involved. Join us in shaping the future of education.

“Taking part in a regional placement has confirmed for me that regional teaching is something that I wish to pursue post-graduation. Teaching in regional schools presents unique benefits and challenges that align with what I enjoy about teaching. Working in these smaller school environments with unique cultural and socioeconomic factors impacting student engagement is a unique challenge and is something I’m uniquely familiar with from being regionally schooled myself. I found this placement incredibly productive and positive, building my confidence in the classroom and as a specialist in my field of expertise.”

Partner with us to develop tailored professional learning opportunities that strengthen skills, build capacity and drive positive change within educational communities. We work collaboratively to co-design programs that meet the evolving needs of educators and organisations.

Promoting and sustaining teachers' curriculum agency: Thought Leadership series 2024 - 2026

Funded by RMIT Enabling Impact Platform Activity and Thought Leadership Grants, Dr Phil Poulton and his team (Associate Professor Kathy Smith, Dr Sue Rook, Dr Edouard Amouroux, Dr Linh Tran and Mrs Sharon Kenyan-Smith) have generated spaces for critical dialogue regarding teachers' curriculum agency.

Through translation of contemporary curriculum research, along with stakeholder workshops with policymakers, teachers, and school leaders, key ideas related to teacher curriculum decision-making, responsive student learning experiences, and the thoughtful use of AI and commercial teaching resources have been shared. The following artefacts and resources reflect these discussions and commitment to supporting teacher practice and professionalism.
