Sandra Tran

Sandra Tran reflects on her career journey since leaving RMIT as a Chemical Engineering graduate in 2022.

"Since graduating from RMIT with a degree in Chemical Engineering, my career journey has been both dynamic and rewarding. Transitioning from university into industry, I joined Nestlé’s graduate program, where I had the opportunity to rotate across two different manufacturing sites and experience diverse rotations such as Safety, Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence. This experience has allowed me to build a strong foundation in process engineering, develop practical problem-solving skills, and gain exposure to the FMCG industry.

After completing the program, I progressed into my current role as a Process Specialist, where I focus on optimising production processes, improving efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives at the Kit Kat Factory. The fast-paced, collaborative environment has enabled me to grow both technically and professionally, while contributing to meaningful outcomes.

As a woman in STEM, my journey has also been shaped by the importance of representation and resilience. Navigating a traditionally male-dominated field has strengthened my confidence and reinforced my commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion within engineering.

My time at RMIT played a pivotal role in preparing me for this path. The practical, industry-focused learning approach equipped me with both technical knowledge and adaptability needed to thrive in real-world settings. My peers and mentors also instilled a mindset of continuous learning, which continues to guide my career development today.”
