You’ll work in a group on a project which may be industry-based. Projects may be discipline-specific or cross-disciplinary. During the Engineering Capstone Project Part A course, you’ll focus on analysing the problem and planning the solution. In Engineering Capstone Project Part B, you’ll create the plan and manufacture a tangible deliverable (where appropriate) and test and verify the solution.
At the end of Part B, you and your team will have the exciting opportunity to showcase your work at the EnGenius event, usually held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is your chance to step beyond the classroom and present your project to academic staff, industry partners, and other guests in a professional environment.
EnGenius is more than just a final presentation. It is a celebration of the effort, creativity, and problem-solving you have invested in your project throughout the year. It gives you the opportunity to share your ideas, demonstrate your achievements, and talk about the real-world impact of your work. It is also a great way to build confidence in presenting to different audiences and to develop the kind of communication skills that are valued in engineering practice.
One of the most exciting parts of EnGenius is the opportunity to connect with industry professionals. Many of the people attending are there because they are interested in seeing the next generation of engineering talent in action. It is a great chance to ask questions, receive feedback, expand your professional network, and make a strong impression as you prepare to enter the workforce. Prizes will be available for the best rated projects on the day.
If you are graduating mid-year, you will take part in EnGenius Lite, a smaller event held at RMIT’s City Campus. While it is more compact, it still offers the same valuable opportunity to present your project, celebrate your achievements, and engage with academic and industry audiences in a professional setting.
