About

Dr. Miranda Tsang is a Research Fellow at the China-Australia International Research Centre for Chinese Medicine at RMIT University. Miranda obtained her BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biotechnology and PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018. With support from the full exchange scholarship, she was trained at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich as part of her PhD. She was an Impact Postdoctoral Fellow in 2019-2022, and received the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) as a co-investigator in Hong Kong, before commencing her postdoctoral training with Professor Charlie Xue at RMIT.

Research interests

Current project:
- To investigate the efficacy and safety of Chinese Medicine (herbal medicine & acupuncture) on long COVID symptoms through systematic
reviews and pilot clinical trials

The following highlights her previous laboratory-based research efforts:
- Novel cytokines and its interaction with innate immunity in allergic diseases (e.g. atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis)
- Effects and underlying molecualr mechanisms of herbal medicine and its active compounds in allergic disesaes
- Molecular-based quality control method development for herbal medicine authentication
- Herbal supplements for the immunoboosting effects against SARS-CoV-2
