16th Annual Australia New Zealand Workshop in Experimental Economics (ANZWEE)

The annual Australia New Zealand Workshop on Experimental Economics (ANZWEE) aims to provide researchers interested in experimental and behavioural economics with an opportunity to present their latest research, receive constructive feedback in an informal environment, and network with other researchers.

Keynote speakers

Tim Cason

Professor Cason is the inaugural Robert and Susan Gadomski chair in economics, and a Distinguished Professor (Purdue University’s highest academic recognition). His teaching and research interests are in the areas of industrial organization, experimental and behavioral economics, and environmental economics. His research areas include experimental markets, environmental regulation, and antitrust.

Professor Cason has published research in many leading journals, including Science, the Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, the American Economic Review, and the Review of Economic Studies. He is a former Co-Editor of the Journal of Public Economics, a past editor of the journal Experimental Economics, and has also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Management Science, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and Games and Economic Behavior. Professor Cason was President of the Economic Science Association (2009-2011), which is the international society of experimental economists. Prior to joining the Krannert faculty in 1998, he was an associate professor (1997-98) and assistant professor (1991-97) at the University of Southern California.

Dmitry Ryvkin

Dmitry Ryvkin is a Professor of Economics at RMIT University, where he joined the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing in 2023, and a Bernard F. Sliger Professor of Economics at Florida State University (currently on leave). Professor Ryvkin holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in Prague, as well as a Ph.D. in Physics from Michigan State University in East Lansing. In his research, Professor Ryvkin combines theory and laboratory experiments to address a diverse set of questions in applied microeconomics. His topics of interest include incentives in organizations, corruption and adverse behaviours, political economy, overconfidence, and games with dynamic externalities.

In memoriam of Professor Klaus Abbink

A Tribute to His Work in Experimental Economics

We would like to take a moment to remember and honour Professor Klaus Abbink, a well-respected researcher in experimental economics and former faculty member at Monash University, who passed away recently. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the field, we have dedicated a keynote session to Professor Abbink 's co-authors, who will reflect on his work and share their insights. This session is a tribute to Professor Abbink and his legacy, and we hope it will serve as a reminder of his invaluable contributions to the field of experimental economics.

Program

The workshop sessions will run on Monday, 25 September and Tuesday, 26 September 2023.

We invite all presenters to a workshop dinner on Monday, 25 September, to express our appreciation for your contributions. Please note that this dinner is exclusively for presenters.

The workshop will be held at Building 16, RMIT University city campus in Melbourne.

The workshop will be held in-person only and there is no workshop fee for ANZWEE 2023. However, we request all participants, including non-presenters, to register to confirm their attendance.
