About
I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University, where I also serve as Program Manager for the Bachelor of Information Technology. My work sits at the intersection of computing education and artificial intelligence: I research how generative AI can be integrated into first-year programming education without eroding the productive struggle that underpins learning to code.
I lead a funded project on AI-assisted programming literacy in first-year computing, and co-lead a cross-school Community of Practice on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) for Generative AI.
I also research emotion and creativity in project-based software engineering education, in collaboration with colleagues at RMIT Vietnam.
Earlier in my career, my research centred on agent-based modelling and simulation, including contributing to the open-source GAMA platform and applying agent-based methods to epidemiology and energy systems during my PhD and postdoctoral research in Paris.
Before returning to academia, I co-founded Healint (later known for the Migraine Buddy app), a Singapore health-tech start-up acquired by Aptar Digital Health in 2024. I received RMIT's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in 2017.
