About
I am a Ph.D. graduate (Adelaide University, 2017) who works as a Senior Lecturer at RMIT University, and my research is focused on business - and its role in conflict and peace, specialising in the Middle East. My work has been published in the Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Ethics (2021, 2020), Business & Society (2023, 2021), Business Strategy and the Environment, and Business Horizons, among other outlets. In 2018, I established the award-winning Business-in-Conflict Research Group (BICAR), which hosted over 100 members and won $129,200USD in funding, while engaging with several major UN organizations and I-NGOs to advance their business-based development programs (e.g., International Organization for Migration, Iraq; Mercy Corps, Iraq, and Lebanon; United Nations Industrial Development Organization Iraq, and Lebanon). My work has received several accolades, including the Best Conference Paper Award (2019, International Council for Small Business World Conference), Best Conference Paper Award (2023, International Association for Business and Society Conference), and Best Published Paper Award (2024 & 2025, International Association for Business and Society), with research from my work (Joseph et al., 2021) shaping Item 71 of the 75th UN General Assembly Report on Business and Human Rights.

Teaching interests
In addition to my published research and work with the humanitarian sector, I teach across entrepreneurship and business and society-related topics, and have sought to promote an understanding of ethical business practices in conflict zones through a series of joint events, keynotes, and panel discussions with a range of local and international organizations (inc. Academy of Management, American University of Beirut, BeryTech, Chihan University, Flinders University, HeartB, IESEG School of Management, Ishik University, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Relief Centre, PRME Working Group on Business and Peace, University of Technology Sydney, and the University of Toronto).
