Leandra (she/her) is a passionate researcher, practitioner, and educator in environmental engineering, with specialisations in the international development and humanitarian sectors. Her work focusses on using transformative approaches to drive equitable outcomes and ensure appropriate solutions. Leandra brings experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI), climate resilience, and systems thinking to work towards sustainable development. She has experience in global projects from Canada, France, Australia, Kenya, Ecuador, Cambodia, Thailand, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and Papua New Guinea. Leandra works part-time at RMIT University (0.6 FTE) so that she may consult with partners in the international development and humanitarian spaces. Her consulting projects – focussed on WASH program design, water management, nature-based solutions (NbS), and program evaluation – allow her to bring real-world experience and examples to her teaching. She holds a PhD in environmental engineering from RMIT University, as well as MASc and BSc degrees from Canada.
Leandra teaches Urban Systems, Ecohydrology, and Introduction to Environmental Engineering. She also teaches into courses in the Humanitarian Innovation minor.
