2) My recent coffee biochar in concrete innovation achieved an Altimetric score of 1523, which ranks it in top 0.03% of all research outputs to date.
3) Received three research awards.
(i) Malcolm Moore Industry Research Award (2024)
(ii) RMIT STEM Media star award (2023)
(iii) RMIT Award for impact and collaboration (2022)
4) Successfully completed 15 research projects with 15 Industry collaborators
5) Secured $1.17 million research income ($470,000 as a lead CI, $700,000+ as Co-CI).
6) Lead inventor of the following innovations:
(i) Transforming spent coffee grounds into a high value additive for strengthening concrete
(ii) Highly reactive cementitious material from aluminosilicate material
(iii) A highly efficient CO2 injection system for mineralisation of CO2 in concrete
7) Selected for CSIRO ON Prime program (1 of 8 Melbourne teams) for my ultra-low carbon cement innovation and received $4,500 award.
8) Developed Innovative advanced catalytic microwave pyrolysis process to recover styrene monomer from polystyrene waste for Bondor Industries
9) 1 PhD completion and 7 PhDs under current supervision (4 as a senior supervisor and 3 as an associate supervisor)

Research interests

Transforming clay into a highly reactive cementitious material • Transform organic waste into a high performance biochar for a stronger concrete • Innovative CO2 injection system to mineralise CO2 into concrete • Application of medical PPE waste in structural concrete • High durability zero cement composite • Thermochemical treatment of red mud (bauxite residue) for its application as a cement replacement materials • Application of granular slag waste from water treatment plants in concrete applications • Identification and separation of microplastics in road dust and stormwater • Development and application of synthetic coarse aggregates derived from soft plastic waste into structural concrete • Thermochemical conversion of polyisocyanurate (PIR) panel waste into bio-fuel • Recovering styrene monomer from expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste and reproducing polystyrene from this styrene monomer • Enhancement of fire performance of polyisocyanurate and expanded polystyrene insulation panels.
