Dr Angela Yang is an academic leader and well recognised expert in Chinese medicine education, program accreditation, and professional standards, with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, clinical practice, and research.
An Ahpra-registered Chinese medicine practitioner in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Chinese herbal dispensing, Dr Yang combines extensive clinical expertise with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice. Her research focuses on acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for chronic conditions, integrative healthcare, and translating research evidence into clinical practice. She has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles.
Dr Yang is widely recognised for her expertise in the accreditation and quality assurance of Chinese medicine programs. She served on the national Chinese medicine accreditation committee for nine years and has contributed to the accreditation and continuous quality improvement of Chinese medicine programs across Australia and internationally. Her expertise includes curriculum design, capability-based education, clinical training, regulatory compliance, and governance.
Dr Yang has over 20 years of experience in higher education. She has coordinated and delivered teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Chinese medicine programs, with expertise spanning Chinese medicine theory, classical literature, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and formulae, clinical reasoning, and professional practice.
As the Clinical Coordinator for Chinese medicine programs for many years, Dr Yang provides leadership in clinical training, work-integrated learning, and the development of practice-ready graduates. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing authentic clinical learning experiences that integrate traditional Chinese medicine knowledge with contemporary healthcare standards.
Dr Yang is also an experienced higher degree by research (HDR) supervisor, having supervised the completion of nearly 20 research degrees. She is committed to nurturing the next generation of researchers and clinicians through evidence-informed teaching, research training, and academic mentorship.
- Systematic reviews and meta-analysis on effects and safety of Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and/or exercise (Qigong/Tai Chi) for chronic conditions
- Randomised controlled clinical trials of Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and/or exercise (Qigong/Tai Chi) for chronic conditions
- Use of the technology in Chinese medicine (eg. healthcare information systems, network pharmacology for drug discovery)
