RMIT has numerous existing RMIT networks and initiatives related to gender equity—such as Athena Swan, themes within research centres such as the Social Equity Research Centre (SERC) and Centre for Organisations and Social Change (COSC), Women Researchers’ Network (WRN) – as well as operational efforts like the ‘Working Together with Men’ programme for prevention of gendered violence, and the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) framework.
RAGE connects transversally across these existing areas of strength and focus, creating both a showcase and community of practice that supports the activations and mobilisation of research towards impact beyond the university. This distinctive approach draws on expertise from across these groups to foster cross and multi-disciplinary collaborations that drive engagement and change. RAGE also strengthens the visibility and profile of RMIT’s diverse gender equity expertise, bringing together researchers whose work currently sits within smaller portfolios or research centre themes.
