An honours degree is an undergraduate qualification that sits on top of a bachelor’s degree. It’s more in-depth and specialised, usually involving extra coursework, research and/or a thesis component. In some cases, the honours degree is embedded in the base degree, while in other courses it’s an optional extra year. (The optional extra years are the type of honours degree we’re looking at here.)
