Hazardous substances

The safe handling, storage and use of hazardous substances is essential.

These substances are used in many different settings at RMIT. While most hazardous materials will be found in laboratories, studios or workshops, some chemicals used in offices – such as cleaning agents or glues – may also be classified as hazardous.

The requirements for chemical management can be complex and include many layers.

To reduce the risks posed by these substances, we have strict requirements in place for their procurement, handling, storage, transport, use and disposal.
