Food sciences

The School of Science offers comprehensive solutions in the discipline of food sciences, collaborating with industry and specialists from around the world.

Our researchers are armed with diverse capabilities (food processing, product development, food safety, quality assurance, nutrition and health, food biosciences, packaging design etc.) required to tackle complex current and future challenges of the food industry.

We are renowned for our technical expertise and understanding of the commercial realities and needs of different industry sectors. We partner with industry leaders and work collaboratively with experts from other disciplines, shaping a range of solutions to real world problems.

With the forthcoming launch of a multimillion dollar Food Innovation and Education Centre, including a state-of-the-art Food Pilot Plant, RMIT is committed to leading the way in education, research and industry engagement across all areas of the food sciences.

The Centre will provide a multi-disciplinary platform from which the food industry can partner with food science academics, armed with a range of expertise and insights, and work collaboratively to tackle complex problems. This is a prime example of RMIT’s multi-disciplinary approach to produce innovative results.

In the food sciences, we are committed to refining all aspects of this everyday source of health and energy – from production to consumption. We’re working to ensure the world can confidently meet the demands of the future.
