Ayush Ranjan

I am Ayush, a Masters-by-Research student in RMIT University’s School of Engineering.

Since I was a kid, I was into solving puzzles and loved mathematics. Later, I dove deep into electronics and explored the world of IoT and sensors. My interest in engineering led me to pursue a Bachelors degree in Electronics & Communication from Manipal University (Jaipur, India), which I completed in 2018. My IoT projects introduced me to the world of data, and I slowly started developing an interest in technologies for storing, manipulating, and translating data into insights to solve complex problems. To explore my interests further, I pursued a Masters degree in Data Science at RMIT, which I completed in 2021.

Through my academic studies and internships, I developed interests in statistics, data analytics, data visualization, and data integration. These further motivated me to pursue an industry project in ‘4D visualization of additively manufacturing parts’, which further fuelled my interest in CFD modelling & visualisation tools like ParaView & Ansys Fluent (version 2021R2, Ansys Inc., Canonsburg, USA).

      • Analyzing financial data from Australian Tax Office (ATO), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and other sources to identify growth potential of different industries in Australia.
      • Cleaning and combining datasets from various sources
      • Building data models to store data for faster and efficient extraction
      • Using Microsoft Power BI to develop dashboards
      • Utilizing different statistical methods and tests to find evidence for identified hypotheses

      • Worked to develop a proprietary framework to inspect data collected from an industry client’s Lasertec 65 5-axis 3D printer
      • Designed visualization for a dashboard using open-source data analysis application ‘Paraview’. Which can be utilized to analyse and eliminate defects from the parts printed using Lasertec 65 printer
      • Utilized Paraview Python interface (pvpython) to improve user experience of our framework

    • Project description & responsibilities
      • Redwood Analytics is a data science consultation organization that provides products-as-a-service to help clients make sense of their data and support decision making
      • Worked as a part of an analytics team and utilized my SQL skills to pull and merge data from different data sources
      • Pre-processed data and designed dashboard layouts using Tableau. Used by stakeholders and teams to support decision making.
