The Storey Scholarships are RMIT’s longest running scholarship program, supporting life-changing student exchange opportunities since 1955 and allowing more than 650 students to study abroad, exposing them to new ideas, cultures and opportunities.   

The Storey Scholarship pays AUD $10,000 as a one-off payment.

Three scholarships are available each semester.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be a currently enrolled RMIT student
  • be applying for the RMIT Exchange Program via the Global Experience Office
    • be a first-time participant in the RMIT exchange program
    • have not commenced your exchange program
  • not be receiving any other RMIT scholarship or financial support apart from an OS-HELP loan
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • be involved in community service activities, with weight given to activities that benefit the broader community. Examples of community service could include, but aren’t limited to:
    • volunteering with a political party, an aged care facility, foodbank or an environment group
    • volunteering with the Global Experience Office during events such as inbound orientation, the Mobility Fair, Global Leadership Programs
    • working with religious or youth groups
    • volunteering with RMIT's food co-op or MATES program
  •  

Scholarships will be awarded based on:

  • academic merit (cumulative GPA)
  • community service activities
  • extra-curricular interests
  • successful placement as an RMIT exchange student
  • amount of time applicant has spent abroad

To apply for a Storey Scholarship, please complete the application form.

Take care to submit all the required information together – late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

If you are going on exchange in Semester 1, applications are due on 20 November of the previous year. 

If you are going on exchange in Semester 2, applications are due on 15 May of the same year.

The Storey Scholarships have made it possible for more than 650 students to study abroad, exposing them to new ideas, cultures and opportunities. They also support high achieving students in mechanical engineering, one of John Storey Junior’s passions.

The scholarships, funded from the John Storey Junior Memorial Scholarship Fund, were donated by Sir John Storey in memory of his son, and RMIT student who passed away aged just 22.

Notice to applicants

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

Only successful candidates will be notified via email to their RMIT student account.
